Allison Legacy / Pro 4 Stock Car Series State of The Organization
For immediate public release and dealer distribution
September 16, 2011 - SalisburyN.C.
As many of you are aware, over the last two years racing as a whole has been in a state of declining participation at all levels. From fans to competitors, tracks to sponsors, involvement has slipped to a level not seen in several decades. From the bottom to the top, everyone has been touched. National economic condition, nation wide unemployment and financial standing of the country have created an environment that has caused many to sideline the nonessentials just to maintain the essentials. The Allison Legacy Series has felt the effects just the same as all others. Because of these factors, we are taking the opportunity to assess and adjust in an effort to make improvements and increase efficiencies.
The Legacy series has been in operation for 18 years at this point and we have enjoyed many seasons of watching the kids of yesterday become the names and faces of today, all the way to the senior levels of NASCAR. It's a proud tradition, a Legacy, that we intend to maintain even through these tough times. The Allison Legacy Race Series is a time proven program. Its a program that works and has staying power. There is no intention to disrupt the original philosophy. We are looking at operational situations on a national basis and will be making adjustments as required to insure we have continuity from the basics.
As all of you know, costs of everything seem to keep going up. Nearly everything related to racing has seen an increase in cost. The manufactures that build components that we use to support the race series are not exempt from these increases, and ultimately those costs are passed on to the customer. In response to rising costs we are looking at alternative sources for parts, different manufacturers and in some cases re-engineering. We are doing all we can to keep the cost to the competitor as reasonable as we possibly can. All of this is being done, keeping in mind that anything that is changed must perform in the same manor of that being replaced without a change in competitive advantage. Its a tall order to fill, and if we can effectively make changes that do not impact existing equipment by forcing changes, that is what we will do.
Over the past several months we have been putting out press releases publicizing small amounts of information from Texas about what is happening as work is being completed to build a new road racing series. The progress on this project is moving at a rapid pace at this point and we have enough of the program in motion to finally lay out more of what is happening in detail.
Most of the Texas Allison Legacy racers and others that follow the series know that since 2006 TLM-Racing has been operating a road racing series under the Allison Legacy logo in Texas and sanctioned under the National Auto Sports Association (NASA). During the period since 2006, several performance enhancements were made to the cars that compete full time within NASA as full time road race cars. Most of these enhancements were to improve the handling of the car, while others were to improve the level of competition to that of cars by other manufacturers. The goal was to achieve a level of superior performance over that of the head to head competition, not of Legacy car to Legacy car, but to every other car that may be on the track. TLM-Racing has achieved the goal that was set and we are at the point to incorporate the modifications into a new car produced by Allison Brothers Race Cars.
The new race series is the Pro 4 Stock Car Road Racing Series. I will tell you, this series project did not come easy. We have had many things we all agreed on and some that have lead to very heated debates. At the end of the day after all the debating and discussions, we believe we have the development of what will become one of the best road racing series in the United States for the hobby racer and those that aspire to higher levels alike. The new series will introduce three new race car bodies during the first season, introduction of a new chassis specifically for road racing and will include a senior level robust technical inspection process to facilitate a non sealed motor program.
The Pro 4 Stock Car Road Racing Series will operate under the sanctioning of the National Auto Sports Association, (NASA). Additionally, the new chassis that is in final design will be compliant to run within the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Our National Director of Road Racing, Jay Carley has done a fantastic job working with both sanctioning bodies to establish programs for both entities and Jay will be the senior level representative for the new series. I would like to take the opportunity to outline each of the sanctioning bodies with respect to the Pro 4 Series.
The National Auto Sports Association has been and will continue to be the primary sanctioning body for the Pro 4 Stock Car Road Racing Series. NASA currently has rules established within their General Competition Rules and Regulations for the Allison Legacy Race Cars. NASA also is in step with age requirements of CompCar of N.C. where new drivers are able to become licensed at age 12; post national application review by NASA and completion of the prescribed drivers education program. The series intent within NASA is to have two specific tiers of competition.
- Pro 4 Tier 1 level race car (P4T1)
Tier 1 level race cars will meet all requirements and regulations of the Allison Legacy Race Series rules as set forth by CompCar of N.C.
Tier 1 level cars will be allowed to add any competition equipment that is needed for road racing competition as outlined and approved by CompCar of N.C. and is removable so not to compromise the equipment for oval track racing.
Tier 1 level cars will maintain compliance of the sealed motor program as set forth by CompCar of N.C.
- Pro 4 Tier 2 level race car (P4T2)
Tier 2 level race cars will meet all requirements and regulations of Pro 4 Stock Car Road Racing Series as adopted by NASA
Tier 2 level race cars will be standard equipped with all components allowable by the rules of the Pro 4 Stock Car Road Racing Series
Tier 2 level race cars will be built on either the original Allison Brothers chassis with numbers prefixed with "AL" or chassis built by Allison Brother with a prefix of "P4"
Tier 2 level race cars will have engine enhancements and non sealed motor program as specified within the Pro 4 Series rules
Sports Car Club of America
The Sport Car Club of America will be considered the senior level race series venue for the Pro 4 Stock Car Road Racing Series. SCCA rules limit issuance of competition license to drivers that are a minimum age to obtain a state issued drivers license (16). In addition, there are additional requirements placed on the chassis construction by SCCA. Because of the afore mentioned requirements, there will only be one level of competition within SCCA, which requires all cars to be built on the Allison built chassis with serial number prefixed with "P4". All rules and regulations of the Pro 4 Stock Car Series P4T2 will apply to competition within SCCA
In summery, the outline above establishes three different level for the road racing venue based on how the car is prepared. It also creates the environment for all Allison built race cars, including the oval track series, an opportunity to compete in road racing events anywhere in the country and insures level competition in any of the three levels. We have nearly completed the Pro 4 rule book. Once we have all final reviews completed we will make the same available for review on the TML-Racing web site.
I want to talk a little bit about this new program and some issues with the old. The new body program that is being rolled out initially for the Pro 4 Series is a huge part of this new series. It will most likely be approved in the future for the Allison Legacy oval track series. We are taking all necessary measure to protect this body program from illegal reproduction. Significant measures are being taken. The issues of the past are firmly being addressed to provide us the ability to protect this series from counterfeit manufacturing of this new design. It is not only being done by the series, it is being protected by the designer. The health and well being of Allison Series and the Pro 4 is dependant on its ability to support its operations from the sale of components that support the same. When loss of income occurs, program components get cut that affect everyone from management to competitor. I urge every competitor to be vigilant to help us keep this series free of unauthorized parts.
In case you are not familiar with NASA, The National Auto Sports Association provides the road racing series with an opportunity of growth on a national level. NASA is a nation wide organization that has a wide variety of facilities to race. You can visit the NASA National web site at www.nasaproracing.com to find a region near you. The program is regionally based with a National Championship event annually that has historically been at MillerMotorsportsPark in Salt Lake CityUtah or Mid-Ohio in Ohio. They have regions all over the country which offer the opportunity for regions of the Pro 4 Series to develop and thus our ability to install Regional Directors. Currently we have interest in the Central Region, and Great Lakes Regions where NASA is established. Jay and I will be interviewing potential Regional Directors as they surface in all areas of the country. Regional Directors will be responsible for operating their own profit center and the management of their local series with direction and guidance from Jay Carley. Candidates that are interested in starting a Pro 4 Region can contact Jay directly via email at jcarley@pro4stockcar.com
In closing, I could not be more excited about the outlook for the Pro 4 and the Allison Legacy Series. I hope this outline provides enough information about what is happening and where we are going. Our team here in Salisbury and our extended team in Texas are working diligently to provide our competitors the best, newest, most cost effective, and desirable racing anywhere. I don't know of any series anywhere that is undertaking what we are doing right now and we are still working on more. Our ultimate and most sincere goal is to see you on the race track in one, or both of these series.
Sincerely
Kenny Allison,
President Allison Brothers Race Cars Inc.
